Dispensing a compelling blend of alternative/
neo- soul, slick hip hop-pop and innovative drum 'n bass, the beautiful nubian vocalist known simply as Res (pronounced REESE ), makes her mark on the contemporary music scene with her Epic Records debut, HOW I DO, and is now quickly on her way to becoming the "next big thing".
 
Res' immense vocal skills are the result of a lifetime of training, which includes opera ( ! ). That's a far cry from the rock/soul fusion music this 23 -year old Philadelphia native now claims as her own, but thank goodness she chose this path!
 
More Nelly Furtado than Alicia Keyes, Res doesn't fit easily into any one genre, since her sound is a hybrid of all her influences and tastes, moving from modern funk ("700 Mile Situation") to trip hop jazz ("The Hustler") and back again to smooth alternative rock ("Golden Boys", "Let Love").
 
HOW I DO (produced by Toronto's Doc Martin) is the kind of recording that showcases a wide range of talent and style through silky lines, assertive rhythms and capti-vating vocals. With deep rock/soul leanings and a seductive presence, Res has only just begun to shake up the scene.
